Alabama RB Derrick Henry with a record-setting Iron Bowl

Forget chasing history, Alabama running back Derrick Henry owns history.

The junior pounded Auburn’s defense for 271 rushing yards and a touchdown on a school-record 45 carries. Henry averaged 5.9 yards per tot, and put the game away on a 25-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

His streak of consecutive games with a rushing touchdowns extends to 17.

Henry’s now has 22 rushing scores, surpassing former Crimson Tide back Trent Richardson for most in a single season. His 271 rushing yards fall third behind Bobby Humphrey (284) and Shaun Alexander (291) for most in a single game. Henry stands alone as Alabama’s single season rushing champion, accounting for 1,797 yards.

Henry is now sixth all-time in program history with 3,169 career rushing yards and his performance against Auburn makes him the third running back to rush for 200 yards in four games, joining former Southeastern Conference players Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker. Henry and the Tide defeated Auburn 29-13.

It faces Florida in an SEC title showdown next week.
