Alabama Football: Top 10 players in 2014

Louisiana will be on edge Thursday, as the College Football Playoff begins with Alabama versus Ohio State inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Both teams have arrived in New Orleans on a mission. Ohio State looks to re-establish the Big Ten as one of the best conferences nationally. Alabama is out for vengeance, looking to erase a horrid memory of its 2014 Sugar Bowl loss to Oklahoma. Two powerhouse programs will battle, but one will advance in its national title hunt.

Alabama has achieved balance offensively, averaging 490.5 yards per game. Opposing teams haven’t had success running the ball against the Crimson Tide. It’s allowed 88.6 yards per contest and three rushing touchdowns. Alabama’s secondary has been a pleasant surprise. It was thought to be its weakest link, yet it’s forced 17 interceptions. Defensive backs Landon Collins, Geno Smith and Nick Perry all have been stellar in run support.
