Alabama set to land a talented MAC wide receiver

Marvin Gentry - USA TODAY Sports

Could this be another Richard Mullaney heading to Alabama?

Bowling Green’s wide receiver Gehrig Dieter is seeking a transfer away from the Mid-American Conference.

The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Dieter is coming off a solid junior year in which he totaled 1,033 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 94 catches. He has been a consistent weapon for the Falcons, collecting 139 receptions for 1,661 yards and 12 scores in his career.

Jason Parker, writer for gamedayr.com, broke the news Wednesday concerning the Crimson Tide being a possible landing spot for Dieter. A change in social media has already occurred with him removing Bowling Green from his page.

Dieter is set to earn his degree in May and will be able to play immediately for whichever program he chooses.

Former Alabama standout Richard Mullaney made the same decision in 2015. He came to Tuscaloosa after being with Oregon State for three seasons (2012-14).

Mullaney would catch 38 passes for 390 yards and five touchdowns with the Crimson Tide.

His hands, toughness and route running capabilities made him a “go to” target for Jacob Coker. He ended his lone season at Alabama with a Southeastern Conference championship and a national title. Dieter could provide the same qualities, if he decides to come to Tuscaloosa.
