Alec Morris has seemingly come out of nowhere in the Crimson Tide quarterback race and has emerged as a potential starter for Alabama in 2015. Little is known about this Texas native and for the most part, that is how Morris’s career in Tuscaloosa has gone.

So who exactly is Alec Morris? Morris is a native of Allen, Texas, and was rated a three star prospect in the 2012 recruiting class. Morris chose Alabama over Wake Forest, Michigan State and Virginia.

Morris was coached by Tom Westerberg at Allen High School, a coach who has won four state titles in his 14 year career at Allen. Morris put up some amazing numbers his junior year at Allen, completing 202-of-329 passes (61.4 percent) in 2010 and throwing for 2,534 yards with 22 touchdowns.

Morris’s senior year stats are what made him a highly touted quarterback in the 2012 class. Morris averaged 270.7 passing yards per game (3,242 yards) in 2011 with 35 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He also managed to rush for 329 yards with nine scores as a senior.

Morris was a redshirt during his first year in 2012 with the Tide and has yet to throw a pass in competition for Alabama. Despite little being known about Morris, Crimson Tide fans can expect a quarterback that has very good overall size and adequate-to-good arm strength. Morris also has a knack for getting rid of the ball quickly and with accuracy.

If Morris is named the starter for the 2015 season then Crimson Tide fans should have the utmost confidence Morris will not only be a productive quarterback , but also a very smart and confident passer.
