NFL analysts are comparing former Alabama standout Amari Cooper to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, Green Bay Packers wideout Randall Cobb and Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice. The Oakland Raiders entered day six of training camp Tuesday, but Cooper has been exceptional since day one on July 30.
Keith McGill, second-year cornerback out of Utah, is experiencing what every defensive back in college football had to deal with for three seasons, a savvy Amari Cooper.
He used a double move on a post route and confused McGill in Sunday’s session. It was Oakland’s first day in pads. Second-year quarterback Derek Carr is expected to have a huge season, and NFL insiders Ian Rapport and Jamie Dukes both said “Cooper is a big time star.”
According to raiders.com., Dukes said Cooper is a five-tool wide receiver that can run every single route on the route tree. Cooper comes from a pro-style offense at Alabama.
“He [Cooper] is exactly what the Raiders needed. He is what Derek Carr needs. Cooper is the perfect guy,” Dukes said.
